ČSOB is a prominent Slovak bank having a tradition lasting more than 45 years. At the same time, it belongs to the youngest banks at the Slovak banking market. ČSOB was namely established as an independent legal entity in Slovakia on 1 January 2008. By that day it had performed its activities at the local market as a branch of the foreign bank named Československá obchodní banka Praha. However, the ČSOB tradition inSlovakia dates back to the 1960s when it was the only bank in Slovakia providing business transactions and system of payments with entities abroad.
During its existence ČSOB has received several awards of prominent economic magazines. For 2011 the Global Finance magazine declared ČSOB as the Best Foreign Exchange Provider. The Bank has received this award for the third time. Within the Global Custodian magazine ranking for 2010 ČSOB was a Agent Banks in Emerging Markets Survey. In the ranking of the safest banks in the region of Central and Eastern Europe prepared by the Global Finance magazine in 2010 ČSOB as the only Slovak bank was part of it. Within the Zlatá minca (Golden coin) contest in 2010 the first five spots were occupied by the ČSOB Financial Group products (the Pohoda package, Profit building savings, Small investment credit, ČSOB AM Rastový o.p.f., KBC Equity Fund World).
